Patience in Handling Your Stocks
I was in second year college when I began buying stocks. It was something that my friends and I thought of since we all had extra money then. We agreed that instead of using our money for a vacation outside of the country, we would just buy shares of stocks. One of our friends had a brother who was a stockbroker. To give us a good start, he suggested buying shares from a food and beverage company that was recently established. Each of us bough a thousand shares from the company valued at $1.39 per share. We did not know anything on how to buy stocks so we just left everything to our stockbroker. Our broker suggested that we could look upon the business section of the newspaper to see how our shares fared. After six months, the value of each share increased from $1.39 to $2.06. Some of my friends considered selling their shares but we just discouraged them. We all kept our shares and five years from the time we bought the shares, the value had increased to $4.75 per share.
